NEPOMUK Project - A First Survey To Get To Know You Better!
#includeResource("Skel.ArticleHeader")
Dear Club members,
As you may know, Mandriva has been involved in the NEPOMUK project since January 2006. NEPOMUK is a large European project running until December 2008 that is funded under the European Union IST programme. This project aims at empowering the desktop with even more social and semantic features and at creating a wide community on the topic of the Social Semantic Desktop. In our work on developing different kinds of technologies that provide for semantic solutions, we focus on four case studies, among which one consists in deriving from the NEPOMUK platform a "Social Semantic Help Desk" aimed at the Mandriva Club community.
A "Social Semantic Help-Desk"
The Club help-desk we're specifying has the ambition to let you ask questions, provide answers or get answers in a more efficient way. The help-desk will be:
- social in the sense that it will let you create a network of trusted relations and take advantage of this network for discovering relevant information
- semantic as it will be based on an ontology (an ontology is a structured vocabulary for a speficic activity domain) that will make it possible to run advanced queries against the knowledge base of questions and answers
- tightly integrated with the desktop
NEPOMUK Team
Mandriva is teaming up on this Club NEPOMUK case study with:
- the Human-Computer Interaction research team from the Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm (see who's who there!)
- Knowledge and Data Engineering research team from University of Kassel specialized in Semantic Networks Analysis
- EPFL University
- and all other NEPOMUK partners
The Survey
To know more about your interaction with Mandriva Club we would like you to take some time to answer our questionnaire. The more describing answers you give the better our understanding of your needs for future semantic support at Mandriva Club will be!
The survey is now closed. Thank you all for your participation
Note: we're issueing the questionnaire only in English for now. We will probably issue multilingual questionnaires soon.
If you have any questions regarding the questionnaire, please contact us by sending an email to wp11 at nepomuk.semanticdesktop.org.
Sincerly yours,
Mandriva Club Team
