Digg!

Yep, the backports for the new Compiz and Compiz Fusion releases have hit the 2008 repositories. If you want to use it on 2008, just set up your backports repositories - go to the repository configuration tool and enable them - then update the appropriate packages (compiz, libcompizconfig0, compiz-bcop, compiz-fusion-plugins-main, compizconfig-python, compiz-fusion-plugins-extra, ccsm). For more information on /backports, see this page.

Thank you very much. I have installed the new versions and now I have no Window decorations at all. I cannot run compiz-fusion --replace, I get an error that ccp is for the wrong version. Any ideas?

dshumway | 27.10.2007 at 05:17 AM
The complete error is "Error: Can't load plugin 'ccp' because it is built for ABI version 20070708 and actual version is 20070915".

Did you upgrade libcompizconfig0?

Christophe Bertin | 27.10.2007 at 12:31 PM
same problem for me and libcompizconfig0 is in 0.6.0-1 version. Nothing to do to upgrade that lib

Christophe Bertin | 27.10.2007 at 12:35 PM
finally, I've done compiz --replace & compiz-window-decorator & and everything comes right

NErancher | 28.10.2007 at 12:51 AM
… same here, update and then no borders. Ran compiz --replace &, compiz-window-decorator &, they came back. Closed the terminal, then they disappeared, ran last command again as root instead, then it stays after closing terminal. Restart, no borders, but box pops up asking for root password to run compiz-window..., put password in, ok, they come back (box pops up because using last saved KDE session). Same thing every restart. Cancel box instead, no borders. Nforce 650i mobo, Nvidia 8600gt, switched to desktop kernel before update (4 gig ram), working then a few days before the update.

… and exactly the same problem for me !!

Compiz 0.6.2 and Compiz Fusion 0.6.0 doesn't seem to work very well !!

Finally, I came bak to the previous releases (0.5.x) and every thing is OK…

libcompizconfig0-0.6.0-2mdv2008.0.i586 solved this problem.

Make an update of media : main/backports

Compiz 0.6.2 and Compiz Fusion work very well now.

NErancher | 28.10.2007 at 09:32 PM
Yes, that did it. Updated media first to see it, not with the regular updates.

awilliamson | 29.10.2007 at 06:16 PM
Yep, that update to the backport fixes it. There was a problem with inter-package build dependencies which caused one of the packages to be built against the old packages from /release, not the other updated packages from /backports.

dshumway | 30.10.2007 at 03:51 AM
Wow, you guys are fast. The update fixed the error for me too. Thanks very much.

Hi, are there any plans to backport new compiz to 2007.1? I tried install it from 2008 repositories, but it didn't work. I'd like to have new compiz because it should repair bug with missing decoration of some wine windows. Thaks
