Mandriva (the company formerly known as Mandrakesoft) is a french software company which produces and supports the GNU/Linux Mandriva distribution, popular for its ease of use.

Mandriva produces the Mandriva Linux operating system under the free software model (the code is free under the terms of the GPL Licence - General Public License). Hundreds of developpers around the globe contribute to the constant improvement of the system through internet collaboration.

The distribution

Mandriva Linux is the most localized Linux distribution: it supports from the installation around 50 languages. Mandriva Linux offers more than 2300 applications including 2 preconfigured desktop environments (Kde et Gnome), the famous Firefox browser, the Open Office suite and the Apache? web server.
