How to easily configure your Software Manager to use wget

And urpmi by the same procedure...

The software manager uses curl by default to fetch the software you want to download. But sometimes it happens that curl has problems in some situations, like right now where the club commercial mirror has a certificate problem and requires wget to work.

So head on to the Mandriva Control Center (you can find it in the menu under the name "Cinfigure your computer") "Software Management" tab, click on the Media Manager (the only icon embedding the rpm logo), there click on "Global Options" in the "Settings" menu and choose the wget option instead of the curl one.

Voila! Your Software Manager (and urpmi) use now wget.

I think you are mistaken PhilipBurr. In my 2007.1 Spring is default configured for curl.

ah, I see that the command for club.commercial has the "-wget" option

Intencionalmente hay errores para limitar los usos del club. Vaya honestidad.

I got it configured for wget - didn't have to change anything. Works fine.
