News Update on Mandriva Flash

First, we are out of stock but new supplies have been ordered!
Yes, that's right, the success of the Mandriva Flash is incredible and we already sold them all. New stock is on its way but likely won't be here before December 25th for the first batch, and January 1st for the second one.

Second, special launch price still available!
The current price for the Flash is a special launch price. If you order now, you still get the launch price and you increase your chances of getting your Flash from the next batch to arrive. If you wait for stock to be available again, you may have to wait longer and pay the regular price.
Third, there is a bug in the Flash.
The kind of annoying bug where you just wonder how it could even happen! Well, it doesn't happen in all situations, which is why it wasn't noticed until now. But when it does happen, it's a killer to French people at that! OK, here it is: the Alt Gr key doesn't work. And you need it on a French keyboard to do the @. So no mails for French users right now. Well, you could use a character map, or copy and paste the @ symbol from a web page. In fact, just to prove that we at Mandriva always have your best interests at heart, here's a whole line of @ symbols ripe for the plucking:

The good news is that a fix is in the works right now. The other good news is that Luis Mago posted a workaround in the comments - run this right after starting the desktop:
xmodmap -e "keycode 113 = Mode_switch"
Or put this command in a script in the ~/.kde/Autostart/ directory.
No news here, I still don't have mine!
OK, this is not worthy of being news, but I just wanted to tell everybody that I (Rémi) couldn't get one because we are out of stock! So I won't have mine for Christmas and I will offer some to my loved ones only after Christmas, which is lame! I'm DEFINITELY not furious and disappointed, and I CERTAINLY didn't put in the bit of info about the price increase because of that. (Take that, Store people!)

ES? Un rápido arreglo para el fallo de la tecla AltGr es ejecutar el comando anterior desde konsole, una vez dentro de KDE. /ES?
Si les gens achètent, le prix il est pas censé baisser ? (mes cours d'eco sont loin… ;-) )
dans mon école d'ingé (il y a 15 ans quand même...), je me souviens de notre 1er cours d'éco : "messieurs les ingés… on va commencer par une question simple : comment fixe t'on le prix de vente d'un produit..." Nous, en bon scientifiques : "on calcule le prix d'achat des matières 1eres, le coût des salaires, le coût de la transformation en produit final, le cout de la livraison, la TVA, ..." Le prof : non. Nous : heu… on voit pas ...
Le prof : le prix d'un produit est calculé en fonction DU PRIX QUE LE CLIENT VEUT BIEN L'ACHETER.
S'il coute 100x moins à faire que ce qu'on le vend, tant mieux pour nous. S'il coute plus cher que ce qu'on peut le vendre, ben on fait pas !!!
Donc : clef USB a du succès => si on monte les prix, on en vendra tjs, et on gagnera plus. Et c'est renforcé si le prix d'achat coté mdv baisse avec le volume. Faut juste pas trop monter le prix pour qu'elle continue à se vendre, of course

- Je suis sûre que de nombreuses personne ne l'aurait pas acheté ou offert si elle avait été plus cher, On hésite moins à l'offrir par exemple, ça fait un cadeau à un pris encore raisonnable !
- Suivant le même raisonnement je pense que des personne ne connaissant pas Linux vont avoir pour la première fois cet objet entre les mains et si leur expérience et satisfaisante peut-être migreront-ils alors vers Mandriva la distribution qu'il connaisse et celle à qui ils ont eu sens doute a faire directement en contactant le support technique.
Peut-être aussi prendront-il un abonnement au club ?Tout d'abord, pas de CD de boot fourni avec !
Pas moyen de booter sur la clé sur un mac intel. (Bon c'est peut être la faute d'Apple ....)
J'ai par ailleur un portable compaq nx7010, là ca boote bien mais oh surprise le demarrage s'interrompt après 1 min même pas ! En faisant Ctl-Alt F2, je regarde le soucis : apparemment un problème de config … de l'USB lui même !!
Et c'est dans ces moments là qu'on se dit "il doit y avoir un support chez Mandriva !" Et bien j'ai toujours pas trouvé le point d'entré, qui doit-on contacter ? Faut-il payer … ?

Je vais donc créer un CD qui va me permettre de booter sur mon mac. (A la façon d'un live CD ? Ok, il va falloir que me ballade avec ...)
Mais en ce qui concerne le problème sur le pc portable, en faisant Ctl-Alt F2 lors du plantage : Je vois un problème de chargement de configuration usb !
Je viens de poster ce pb sur le forum que deap (merci deap) viens de mentionner, apparemment je ne suis pas le seul à avoir le soucis (rassurant ?) affaire à suivre …

As the exteremely high shipping fee at Mandriva store is not acceptable (12 Euros compared to usually 0 Euros at German resellers), this product is not for the German crowd as long as it is not available at the official resellers.
A pity!
The special discount for Club members has also changed from 15% to 30%!
