Rpm5 - JBJ vs RH

Sooo, right before christmas RedHat announced their new plans regarding RPM..

The (visible) results so far? None.. JBJ branch? Development still going strong and new rpm5.org launched!

I really like the new (jbj) rpm5 site, nice design and everything indicates it's development continues with a good community around it.

I think the new site and related changes will ensure jbj branch getting somewhere with increased partiticipation from others.

So what is going on at the official RedHat branch? RedHat announced how they would lead the development of a community around RPM lead by the Fedora project with the involvement of Novell and other parties using RPM. Not a single new release now after a half year and noone else than Novell seems to actually be involved with it, not that I would expect anything else, RedHat has never had any good history of community cooperation suffering heavily of NIH syndrome.

I'm happy that Mandriva chose jbj branch and hope that we can actively participate in it's development upstream for real, new efforts from Jeff seems to do very well at encouraging this. :)

So congratulations to Jeff and the new rpm5.org site!
